Killing Common Indoor Bugs

by Owen Jones

Some of the most common indoor bugs we see anywhere in the world are flies, spiders, fleas and beetles. No-one likes to see a bug in the house, so most people will go to almost any extremes to eradicate these common indoor bugs. The less common indoor bugs may be woodlice, earwigs, scorpions and millipedes or centipedes, although they are not less unwelcome.

No matter where you are in the world, it can be very hard to keep these common indoor bugs outside, unless you go to the extremes of keeping all your windows and doors closed at all times, which is quite impossible. I now stay in Thailand and I know for sure that this is not possible.

Why Caravan Insurance Is Important

by Timothy Simons Grimshaw

“For girls who go plump in the night” is the rather strange title of an album by 1970’s rock band Caravan, which is not the kind of thing you would expect an insurance man to know, even if he does actually own one, (a caravan I mean!) An insurance man in a caravan is probably not that unusual but an insurance man in a caravan listening to Caravan? Surely not!

I can’t remember exactly what got me thinking about this, but I think it’s to do with when I was looking over some photos from last year’s Glastonbury festival the other day and I noticed the sheer amount of caravans there in one outfit or another. Of course, being an insurance man, I immediately began thinking about the cover that these caravans may or may not have had and whether or not the underwriters knew exactly what they were being used for.

In the Eighteenth Century, they found dishes, saws, knives, flints, a scraper, a prehistoric horn celt with strange markings, a spokeshave and some arrowheads from the Neolithic Period. These artifacts are safely ensconced in the Museum of Wales in Cardiff, but unfortunately, no one at the time thought the find significant enough to warrant a dig and now there are houses on it.

An ancient Roman kitchen, complete with remains and utensils underwent a similar fate. In 1533, Leland was made the Kings Antiquary and was directed to make a tour of all places where records were held. This took him nine years and his description of the island was:
