Of all the Balearic Islands, which are located off the coast of Spain, Menorca is the one that is furthest to this east. Certainly, this island offers great accommodation that is ideally suited for families who want to just get away and relax. In fact, you will find that most of the Menorca holiday homes are located close to some of the most beautiful, unspoilt and unpopulated beaches in Europe today.
Along with spending time on the beaches soaking up the sun during your stay there are plenty of activities to keep one occupied. However, this is not the ideal location to visit if you are looking for a holiday that is full of sightseeing activities. This is more a holiday for those who just want to relax and unwind and forget about things back home for a while.
Yet although most people will spend time on the beach, there are a few attractions that you and your family can enjoy during your stay. In this article, we look at what the main attractions are.
1. Xoriguer Distillery - This is one for the adults in the group and is located down at the harbour front. Along with a tour of the facility, you can even sample a few of the drinks which are made here including Menorca gin which is known as “Mahon” and which can be purchased from the shop situated at the distillery as well.
2. Cales Coves - All you need to do in order to reach these is take the bus from Mahon and here you will be able to spend time exploring the ancient caves. Originally used as burial chambers by the islands early settlers they offer you the chance to understand what life was like for this island and its population in the beginning.
3. ES Freginal Park - This is located in the very heart of the city of Mahon (Menorca’s capital) and has plenty of wide-open spaces where one can sit and relax on a summer’s afternoon. Plus there is a stage situated in the park also and it is here where the annual Summer Jazz Festival takes place.
4. Los Delfines Aquapark - If you are looking for a way to get rid of some excess energy then a visit to this attraction is a must for the whole family. It is located in 12,500 metres of land and has numerous different water activities that the whole family can enjoy. As well as Adventure River, the Giant Toboggan and Hydrotubes for those who are feeling that little more adventurous then a go on the Black Hole should not be missed.
In this article, we have looked at the kinds of attractions that the Island of Menorca has to offer to those who choose to stay there on holiday. So if you are seriously considering booking any kind of Menorca holiday homes in order to stay on the island it is advisable that you book as far in advance of your vacation dates as possible.
