If you are getting ready to hit the road in your RV, of course, you want to take along your loved ones. You wouldn’t leave one of your kids behind, would you? So why not also take along the family pet? After all, even though your pet may have four legs, it doesn’t mean that he or she isn’t a valued member of your “pack.” It is no wonder that many families take their pets when they travel in their recreational vehicles.

Not only will you be able to show your dog a great time on the road, you will also save the money from putting your pet in a kennel. Additionally, often families go away for extended vacations in their RVs. Two or three weeks may seem far too long to be without your pet.

There are a few supplies that you will need to acquire in advance. For example, just like you wouldn’t travel without getting a good RV mattress; make sure that you bring a pet bed for your dog or cat. He or she will really appreciate having someplace comfortable to sleep. Also be sure to bring food and water bowls. Keep in mind that your pet needs to stay hydrated especially if you are traveling during the summer. Also throw a few pet toys into the RV as well. You may want to buy a few new toys to keep their brains stimulated.

Just like you need a good RV mattress for your trip, your pet is going to need a good pet bed. You probably want to use the same one that you use at home. Also make sure that you bring some toys to keep your pet busy on the road. Also don’t forget the food and water bowls. Your dog will need plenty of water, especially if you are traveling to a hot climate.

This is a far better option than keeping a litter box in your RV.

When you are traveling with your pets, it is important to be aware of your own safety as well as theirs. If you pay attention to their comfort on the road, they will be sure to have a great time too.
